About Daria
Hi! My name is Daryna, and I could be your next English teacher. I’m from Ukraine, but I currently live and work in Tokyo. As a person, I’m very outgoing and communicative. I love travelling and I’m always open to new experiences. I’ve been creative since childhood, so I still enjoy drawing, making collages, singing, and, of course, I can’t imagine my life without music.
I decided to start teaching because I realized that I wanted to help people immerse themselves in English and enjoy the process of learning it. More than anything, I simply love sharing what I know with others and seeing my students make progress.
Some of the most valuable experiences I’ve had working with people and in education include an internship at the international organization Nobel Internship, as well as participating in Erasmus+ youth exchanges in Poland and Croatia. I’ve also worked as an English teacher at the Ukrainian online school "mabutko school" and as a volunteer English tutor on the "Plekayou" platform. In total, I have 2 years of teaching experience.
I enjoy working with children and teenagers as well as adults, so I’m sure we’ll find common ground regardless of your background or level of English. What I value most in our work together is honesty and mutual responsibility. And most importantly, you don’t have to be afraid of making mistakes with me because mistakes are one of the most important parts of the learning process :)

What will our lessons be like?
I’ve been learning English all my life and I’m still constantly improving my skills. I’ve tried many different approaches to language learning, so I know how boring it can be to memorize endless rules and grammar. Luckily, you won’t have to do that on my lessons all the time :)
I’ve tested pretty much every language-learning method on myself - from passively watching movies, which everyone seems to recommend, to covering my walls with sticky notes full of new words. So I can tell you from experience what actually works and what is just a marketing gimmick.
I teach completely online using Zoom or Google Meeting according to what platform is most convenient for you. I also use interactive tools such as Miro board, Wordwall, and Quizlet to make our lessons more engaging and practical. I select materials from coursebooks such as Roadmap, Use of English, and Outcomes based on your level, goals, and individual needs. During our lessons, we’ll work on several language skills at the same time. For example, we might focus mainly on reading on one lesson, but then use speaking activities to practise and reinforce what we’ve learned, so that you can actually start using the new information instead of simply memorizing it. I also prepare students for the Ukrainian NMT exam and help with school English homework. My personal NMT score was 191/200.
