About Todd Mashlan
I have been a hospitality/tourism professional for over 30 years. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Ethnic Heritage and British Studies with a Certificate in Comparative Religion Studies, and a TEFL (120hrs) Certificate. I have supervised staffs composed of speakers of many different languages, often tutoring English as part of my managerial duties. For the past 15 years, I have also taught English as both a foreign language and as a second language; including 3 1/2 years teaching in China. I have varying levels of competency in several languages: Mandarin, German, French, Spanish, and Latin.

Depending on a students needs, I can focus on specific skill development (production skills-speaking, writing; comprehension skills-listening, reading), conversational practice, Business English, English for Academic Purposes, vocabulary development (medical, legal, professional), and/or English Test preparation.
My approach to the time spent with students will also be based largely upon the students’ opportunity to use English outside of our time together. It makes a difference whether a student a greater or lesser chance to practice using English beyond our limited time together. I want to be sure to use tutoring time in the most effective manner to suit each student’s own personal circumstance.
