About Sue

Hi! My name is Sue. I studied Japanese at university and worked in Japanese companies for several years. I am a pre-service LOTE (Languages Other Than English) teacher, specialising in Japanese and Korean.

I understand that learning a foreign language can be both challenging and rewarding. It requires dedication, persistence, and patience (I’ve been there myself!). That’s why I believe lessons should be fun, engaging, and motivating.

The journey may have its ups and downs, but the rewards are absolutely worth it. Together, we can make the process easier, more enjoyable, and truly effective!

About the lesson

My teaching methodology
I believe language learning should be fun, interactive, and connected to real life. I use a communicative approach, focusing on speaking and listening from the very first lesson. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in context, so you can apply what you learn immediately. I also integrate games, role plays, cultural stories, and multimedia resources to keep lessons dynamic and engaging.

Lesson structure

Warm-up & Review – quick conversation or activity to refresh what you learned last time.

Main Lesson – introduction of new language concepts through real-life examples.

Practice Time – speaking, listening, reading, or writing activities, depending on your goals.

Cultural Insight – short stories, traditions, or fun facts about Japan to deepen understanding.

Wrap-up & Feedback – summary of key points and personalised advice for self-study.

Whether you’re learning for travel, work, study, or pure interest, my lessons will be engaging, personalised, and culturally enriching.
So feel free to contact me with any questions about learning Japanese, and let’s start your new language journey together!

If you are preparing for language proficiency tests like the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test), I am incorporating test-focused materials and practice exams into your curriculum.

For beginners, the main course books I use are the Hai and Genki collections. However, I am flexible and willing to adjust my teaching methods based on individual needs and preferences.
