About Meips

I have just finished tutoring English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses to international students at the University of Leeds, England. Prior to this, I had been working as an English Language tutor at the University of Greenwich, Da Nang campus in Vietnam for five years.

Why should you choose me as your tutor?

✓ I am a qualified TEFL tutor with a Master of Teaching in Higher Education and extensive experience spanning six years teaching both virtual and in-person classes to students of various ages.

✓ I have conducted different levels of ESOL courses, including English for beginners, English in the workplace for intermediate and advanced students, and conversational English for students aged 14 to 40.

✓ I have assisted university students in preparing for their IELTS exams at a reputable Vietnam-based British university.

✓ I have tutored international students who were about to start their postgraduate studies to prepare them for EAP at one of the top 75 QS World Ranking universities in the world.

✓ I have delivered Business English classes to working adults at a global software company.

✓ I'm bilingual and have been exposed to the English language since an early age, as all subjects in my home country, Brunei, are taught in English. This privilege has allowed me to understand what it takes to learn a new language!

Let's take a look at what we will do in my class:

✓ Analyse your IELTS Writing reports and essays. We will transform your weaknesses into strengths, employing strategies that utilise your acquired skills to achieve a well-deserved band score. Through oral and written feedback/reviews, you will learn to write better than you did yesterday!

✓ Enhance your IELTS Speaking skills. We will engage in continual practice on general topics to ensure you are well-prepared for the test day!

✓ Practice your English language skills commonly used in the workplace. We will base our conversations around your work, enabling you to engage in discussions with colleagues and clients effectively.

✓ Learn from mistakes and develop grammar and vocabulary skills commonly used in daily conversations and English for beginners. We will engage in constant conversations on topics that interest you!

What sets me apart from the others?

✓ My class primarily involves a significant amount of verbal interaction (don't worry; I'm here to guide you every step of the way) to help you activate the language you've learned.

✓ The lesson materials are structured and personalised in accordance with what I believe you need to further develop your skills. Together, we will explore approaches to effective communication in different settings through the practice of relevant English discourses.
