About Tessa

Hey there! I’m a globe-trotting language lover, born in the US but raised in Croatia – so I’ve got a pretty international mix in my background. I’ve been obsessed with languages since I was a child and am fluent in Spanish and Croatian (with a little German and Italian thrown in for fun). Thanks to all my travels and moving around over the years, I’ve gained a deep love for different cultures and the beautiful ways language connects us all. After graduating with a business degree, I somehow randomly fell into teaching and, luckily, found my true passion right there! I’ve been doing it for 5+ years, helping amazing students— most of whom are from Spanish-speaking countries—crush their language goals. Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone nail it after working hard and have that "A-HA" moment we all love and crave. Outside the classroom, I’m probably talking about my latest travel adventure or planning the next, trying out a new recipe I couldn’t stop thinking about, or getting into debates about movies, music, or anything random (current events, pets, how long elephants carry their babies for, you name it). My lessons are all about making learning as fun as life itself, so you can bet we’ll chat about everything and anything while mastering English!

About the lesson

In my lessons, building a connection with my students is key. I make sure we "click" before diving into the material, and then tailor the lessons to meet each student's needs. We always start with a fun warm-up activity to get us talking and comfortable, whether it's a game, conversation, or a fun video.

I believe the most important thing is for students to speak, whether with words, gestures, or even body language. Mistakes are part of the learning process, and I create a supportive environment where students feel confident making them. This keeps lessons fun, engaging, and productive.

I'm comfortable teaching all levels, and I especially love helping students improve their grammar skills.
