About Kelsey

I love being able to share my knowledge and love of music with kids. It was something I loved growing up and I love to see the joy in children's faces when they learn something new.

I have been teaching piano for 4 years now, I started out at a school teaching after care and private lessons, and then in 2019 I decided to start on my own and get more students local to where I live. I have been playing piano since I was 7 years old and I have a degree in Music Technology and I was classically trained ok the piano in college.

When looking for a new job, I found a listing for a piano techer for a before and after care program. I applied and got the job and quickly learned how much I love teaching children piano.

I have a bachelor of art in Music Technology. I have been playing piano for 20 years and have been teaching for 4.

About the lesson

For a first lesson with a new student, I ask questions about how much they know about music and the piano. This gives me a good starting point, and I slowly start to introduce new information and get a feel for what level to start the student at and what different tools to use with that particular student. Some students I use games to help them grasp information, some I use coloring worksheets, and some just stick with the books; it al depends on the student and how they learn best.

I have worked with children ages 3-14

Make sure you are comfortable with your teacher and always ask questions when you don't understand something. It helps both you and the teacher when you communicate, and can make the process so much more enjoyable.

Recently went to a music concert that I had been looking forward to for over a year.
