About Ruby

I am a Year-13 student with a passion for sharing my love for music with others. Learning piano not only develops your hand-eye coordination, discipline, and musical ability; it can also be a fun and engaging process that opens up many paths in life. This is why I believe it is so important to help students find THEIR interest in music, whether it be learning their favorite songs, sitting exams, or playing in a music group! I aim to provide lessons where the student can discover and learn new things, practice a good musical foundation, enjoy playing, and grow in the learning process.

About the lesson

I have been playing piano for over 13 years and gained my LTCL piano diploma as well as an IRMTNZ (Institute of Registered Music Teachers) Foundation Course in teaching. I have had experience teaching and tutoring young students in piano and music theory, including NCEA Level 1 and 2 Music.

I provide lessons where the student can discover and learn, practise a good musical foundation and posture, enjoy playing, and grow in the learning process. I will always be open to students’ opinions and ideas and strive to have an encouraging studio environment. I believe that music can be enjoyed by everybody - it only takes the right guidance.

My studio is in Remuera, Auckland. Lesson lengths depend on the level of the student but range from 30 min, 45 min, or 1 hour.

Ruby taught my twin boys aged 11 for a year on piano and violin. She is reliable, patient, enthusiastic and achieved great results for the boys. Ruby is a very talented piano player.

When I asked my boys what they remember most about Ruby they both said she was fun! To be able to teach music and achieve results and for the student to have fun at the same time - it doesn't get much better than that.

Any parent who is fortunate enough to engage Ruby won't be disappointed.

My 3 children are new to music and began learning with Ruby 3 years ago. Ruby always has a positive and fun vibe while setting up a technical foundation in her lessons. I played the piano too but Ruby definitely goes beyond simply learning notes and encourages a love of music and piano in her teaching. My children always enjoyed the lessons.
