About Derek

I’ve taught at private music schools, conservatories, music shops, and done house calls throughout my career. I’ve also implemented after-school band jam programs, now known as “School of Rock!”

By actively performing jazz piano in New Orleans, I bring current, real-world musicianship into every lesson.

About the lesson

As a musical educator / live performer for the last 15+ years, I specialize in building individualized lesson plans, adapting instruction to different learning styles, and keeping students highly motivated.
