About Rhianna
After teaching college-level composition and literature courses for several years, I decided to return to tutoring because I prefer a flexible learning environment where we can focus on developing skills instead of worrying about grades and semester deadlines. I focus on writing and reading skills because I genuinely believe they are undertaught in public schools and unviersities, and I find students enjoy working on these skills in a collaborative, low-stress environment.

Sessions tend to be more conversational with me asking questions and going through the exercises alongside the student. A typical lesson for media literacy will involve a closereading exercise where we analyze a specific text, such as a passage from of a book or a short film. A typical lesson to improve writing skills involves responding to a short prompt and then working together to revise the response. I provide handouts and collaborative notes for the student to keep after the session.

Details
I aim to provide affordable tutoring packages while still adequately compensating myself for my labor. To do so, I've based my payrate on two major factors: 1) The hourly rate I recieved as a tutor at a private university, and 2) the cost of creating teaching materials and personalized lesson plans.
