About Emily
I'm an experienced writing instructor and tutor with over four years of professional writing and teaching experience. I currently work as a composition instructor at the University of Montana-Missoula where I help students dive deep into the craft of writing and critical thinking so they may become successful leaders in their community. I also work as a freelance writer and editor and love showing my students that it's possible to make a living as a writer in this world.

I approach each writing assignment in a direct and compassionate manner. "What is the heart of this essay?" or "What are you really trying to say?" are questions I frequently ask my students. My one on one instruction is a constructive and inspirational process that boosts students' confidence and writing skills. As an English composition teacher, I regularly teach many different writing assignments including narrative and argumentative essays and cultural analysis.
