About Coby

Hello everyone, my name is Coby Cheung and I am currently studying for a degree in music in the University of Auckland. I started learning piano when I was six years old and have been playing piano for more than 15 years. I chose to learn the piano because I love its beautiful sounds and the joy and authenticity they bring. I hope that anyone who is interested or beginning to be interested in the piano will enjoy the musical journey of the piano.

About the lesson

The 60-minute beginner's class begins with finger warm-up exercises before moving on to piano basics and music theory such as scales and note discrimination. Students learn basic tunes with both hands, focusing on coordination and technique. This is followed by left-handed strategies that encourage constant practice and reinforcement of learning. It concludes with review and homework at the end of each class. My tutorials are aimed at beginners and children aged 5 to 10 years old. In terms of piano achievement, I passed grade 8 piano in ABRSM and am learning for the diploma level.
