About Martin
I am a working musician with over 15 years of experience. My background lies in classical music with the French National Radio Choir, where I received my qualifications in music theory and piano.
Later on, I studied contemporary music at the British and Irish Institute of Modern Music in 2017, where I specialised in jazz and received a first-class degree in Professional Musicianship.
I have a wide variety of experience in teaching, from private lessons and international courses to being a university lecturer.
I now divide my time between performing (e.g. Glastonbury Festival, Ronnie's Scott's Jazz Club) and teaching.

I tailor my lessons to each student and aim to bring out their individuality. My goal is to make them feel comfortable and curious about their musical journey.
I aim to demystify music theory and jazz learning, bringing students back to manageable tasks and exercises that have a great effect on developing their musical vocabulary and improvisation.
I combine ear training and simple theory concepts, always applied to a practical goal, to help students build a solid foundation on which to thrive in their individual practice.

He’s always accommodating to anyone with any theory level. I personally worked with him on multiple teaching courses and have been impressed by his inclusive teaching, always listening and bouncing off students’ inputs.
Martin is the best!Martin is an absolute treasure. His warmth when teaching is infectious, and his immaculate sense of musicianship has shaped me more than many of my university professors. While being a highly technical player, he will guide you towards playing what is right for the music - often simple but killer. A truly lovely humble dude, and an excellent mentor.
I first met Martin through his reputation in the local jazz scene, and I wanted to take lessons with him to improve my music theory understanding.
I was quite nervous because music theory is such a broad concept that I never could really wrap my head around, but Martin did an outstanding job of breaking it down into easy-to-understand chunks and really demystified the whole concept of music theory for me.
When I had lessons with Martin, it wasn't just like he'd feed me information to regurgitate, but he really showed me how to gain a deep understanding and be more self-sufficient as a learner. Really amazing teacher! He is awesome,a Very good music player ! He is a trustworthy tutor !
I have known Marty for a long time and he has always been my go to teacher whenever I had a question about guitar music theory or singing. He is incredibly knowledgable in many areas and really knows how to take the time to explain something to you in the best way possible. It is always very easy To work with him. Overall grade dude to learn from and hang out with.
Excellent tutor, good knowledge of multiple styles and super reliable
I have had a few guitar lessons with Martin he's really patient and explains everything clearly. Considering I had no knowledge of how to play the guitar his lessons really helped me :) I don't own a guitar and therefore can't practise much but I think with regular lessons with Martin I would learn well
I'm Alexis. I have worked with Martin through BIMM Bristol University and his guitar playing skills are outstanding. From improvisation, scales and finger technique, his methods are guaranteed to help you because he certainly knows a lot. I look forward to playing besides Martin in the future, myself.
