About Sophie
My name is Sophie, I am 30 years old and I am a professional flautist. I graduated from the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva as well as from the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. I have over six years of experience as a music teacher. During these years I was able to work with students of all ages, in different countries (France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland). Alongside teaching, I have also been part of several professional orchestras such as the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle in Halle, or the Mannheim Philharmonic Orchestra in which I hold the position of solo flute. In addition to the transverse flute, I teach piccolo and traverso, but also solfège and musical awakening, and, thanks to my training in music therapy, I also work with children with specific needs.

Knowing that the transverse flute is a wind instrument, it is important, above all, to install an appropriate breathing technique. This is essential to build a good tone. Therefore, I give priority to these two aspects at the beginning of the training. At the same time, I consider it important that the students develop their ear and their listening and communication skills through music. For this reason, I work mainly as a duo and I introduce different improvisation techniques from the start of the apprenticeship.
