About Joana

My name is Joana Avi-Lorie and I am a Portuguese-born architect, writer and researcher living in Edinburgh. I have always been passionate about research, management, communication and stories inside and outside work, and I have a genuine interest in people and their work and excellent communication skills. I speak several languages and I have always been drawn and inspired by different ways of communicating. I am completing a PhD at the university of Edinburgh studying the creative exploration of eco-anxiety in children 9-12 and I work as freelance writer, illustrator and tutor.

About the lesson

I look forward to welcoming and tutoring students who love a dynamic storytellers' approach to teaching. Our communication and understanding of the world are made through stories and it's vital that we figure out how to replace a narrative that isn't working anymore with a new one! I want to offer a tailored and personal approach to each student and help them not only get the best results but also enjoy the process of learning and explore their curiosity about the subject.

More than 5 years I have been her very close friend, and I have barely missed enjoying her literary, poetic and artistic works. The outstanding creative and poetic imagination along with the excellent skills in depicting the stories through the paintings have given J Avi-Lorie a distinct identity to be an accomplished artist per excellence. I have no reservation to recommend her as she would in turn be an great resource for Superof. Wish her all the best.
