About Joe

I’m Joe, a native English speaker from the United States, and I’ve spent a large part of my adult life teaching and living in Vietnam. That experience has given me the chance to meet people from many different backgrounds and has made me very comfortable communicating with people who are still building confidence in English.

I’m relaxed, patient, and pretty easy to talk to. I enjoy getting to know my students as people rather than treating every lesson like a textbook exercise. I think good conversations happen when you can laugh, ask questions, make mistakes, and talk about things you actually care about.

Outside of teaching, fitness and health are a big part of my life. I’ve been involved in fitness for many years, and I’m very interested in training, nutrition, healthy habits, and personal development. I enjoy conversations about improving yourself, setting goals, and trying to become a little better over time.

After 13 years of teaching, one of the things I’ve enjoyed most is meeting people from different countries, ages, careers, and walks of life. Every student has a different story, and that is one of the reasons I still enjoy teaching.

If you’re looking for someone you can have a comfortable, natural conversation with while improving your English at the same time, I think we’ll work well together.

About the lesson

I focus on practical English that you can use in everyday conversations, work, travel, and real-life situations. My lessons are relaxed, supportive, and adapted to your individual level and goals. We can work on speaking fluency, pronunciation, listening comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and helping you sound more natural when you speak.

Over my 13 years of teaching, I’ve worked with a wide variety of students and professionals. In addition to teaching children and high school students, I’ve privately taught adults and worked with students in banking as well as doctors and pharmacists who wanted to improve their English for their careers. I’ve even done professional voiceover work, which has given me additional experience with pronunciation, clarity, and natural spoken English.

I believe the best way to improve your English is to actually use it. You’ll spend plenty of time speaking during our lessons, and I’ll help correct mistakes, explain why something sounds unnatural, and teach you useful expressions that native speakers really use.

Whether you are a beginner, an advanced learner, or simply want to feel more confident speaking English, I will tailor each lesson to help you make steady, practical progress.

Mr. Joe had taught my daughters ever since they were little. With patience and kindness, Mr. Joe had helped my daughters, now currently in 6th grade and 1st grade with their speaking skills and creativity. Learning with him is very fun and interesting, as he’s kind and caring. Thanks to him, my kids now speak English fluently. I really recommend Mr. Joe to anyone who wants to learn English.

Joe is such a wonderful teacher, and our family is very grateful for him. He taught both of my children in kindergarten. My older child is now in 10th grade, and my younger one is in 1st grade. Even with such a big age gap between them, Joe still remembered my children after many years, and that really touched me.

Both of my kids were born in Vietnam, and having Joe talk with them every day at school helped them become more confident, independent, and comfortable communicating in English. I truly believe that experience made it much easier for them to adjust and fit in when they later moved to the United States.

My younger son is now in 1st grade, and he qualified for the GT program while he was still in kindergarten, only about one year after leaving Vietnam. I really believe Joe played an important part in helping him build his confidence, curiosity, and love of learning.

Thank you so much, Joe, for all the love, patience, and care you gave my children. Teachers like you make a difference that families remember for many years. We are so lucky that both of our kids had you as their teacher. ️
