My teaching approach is to take a topic and break it down step by step so that the learner understands fully what is going on at each aspect and then building the breakdown back up again to put it all into context. I believe that learners need to have things broken down to understand the inner working but then also need the bigger picture. So in my teaching approach, I accommodate both very well and then students can go on to use the concepts from one topic in another topic.
