About David

I'm a cartoonist, illustrator, and animator, all influenced by my background in comedy and writing. I've created original work for Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Funny or Die, Buzzfeed, MAD Magazine, and more. I was part of the two-time Emmy-winning digital team on Comedy Central's (concealed information) and was most recently an Associate Art Director (promoted from Senior Illustrator) at the tabletop game company "Exploding Kittens."

About the lesson

I want to get you drawing and having fun while doing it! I also want to hear what type of art you want to make and how I can best help you get there!

Cartooning is great because it's not just about your technical skills, it's also about the ideas you're conveying. I'll also give you my ideation tips so we can highlight your point of view and showcase what sets you apart.

David is an amazing teacher- he really breaks down the fundamentals well, has had a fun and creative career too! He was able to tell straight off the bat where I need to improve- I needed some more foundational structure applied to my work, and he gave me many exercises and ideas for this- including a really good grounding in shape language. He also introduced me in ways to free up and experiment with my shapes. This helped me a lot in figuring out how to approach my work, and has changed the way I think about my work completely. He's kind, calm and patient and also gave me some cool references to art I had not come across before like The Cobbler and the Thief and Tim Biskup! Highly recommend!
