About Gary
I’m a practicing engineer licensed in over 20 states, and have been in this field of Civil Engineering since having graduated with a master's degree in 1997. I currently run a geotechnical engineering group at my office in NYC, and cover many projects in the northeastern US.

Study groups are great, but sometimes if you’re stuck on a problem or topic, they might not be able to help make sense of things. Geotech mixes theory (effective stress, consolidation, shear strength) with messy, real‑world soil behavior, so lectures can feel abstract and problem sets can feel random. Problems also usually are multi-step problems, and it may not be clear how to move forward… especially during an exam.
As a geotechnical engineer with over 25 years of experience—who has staff he guides and as an active adjunct professor in this field—I have a knack for having already mastered this material and can explain the same idea three different ways until it clicks for you.
