About Poppy
I recently graduated from the University of Nottingham, where I carried out my own independent research as part of my degree. I believe learning should be about more than simply getting through an exam; it should be about developing genuine understanding, curiosity and knowledge of a subject.
Of course, my teaching will be tailored to each student’s specific exam syllabus, with a strong focus on building the knowledge and exam skills needed to succeed. However, if a student has additional questions or wants to explore something beyond the syllabus, I’m more than happy to do so. I believe that genuine interest and understanding are an important part of learning, and I want my students to feel confident asking questions and exploring subjects further.

I’m happy to teach Geography and Sociology to students aged 13–18, with sessions available from 45 minutes to 2 hours.
I have two years’ experience tutoring English to dyslexic students and, as someone who is dyslexic myself, I understand that everyone learns differently. I’ve developed lots of tips and techniques that helped me progress academically, which I’d love to share with my students.
I’ll work through each student’s specific syllabus, focusing not only on memorising content but on genuinely understanding the concepts behind it. I’ll also help students prepare for exams through exam practice, past-paper questions and developing effective exam techniques. My teaching methods will be tailored to each individual student and how they learn best.
