About Jenny

I am a BA Fine Artist with a PGCE in Art and Design. I have been teaching art and design for many years both at GCSE and A Level standard. I teach regular adult classes and kids classes adapted to meet the needs of the student. I have previously worked at Tate Modern working within the exhibitions team and special events for the gallery. I enjoy working with adults, children and teenagers who are seeking guidance on how to develop and improve their creative skills. Having studied art at GCSE and A level and receiving A* grades, I have closely observed as well as had recent training in understanding what is required for the AQA and Edexcel exam requirements; therefore I am well equipped to provide a first hand perspective on how to improve GCSE/A Level coursework and exam preparation. I provide bespoke art lessons for adults and children that desire to develop particular skills in mediums such as drawing, painting (watercolours and acrylics), ceramics and printing.

About the lesson

I am a patient and friendly art tutor where my lessons are at a pace that suits the student. Based on what you desire, I am flexible with content that I teach. For GCSE/A Level students I can listen to what you would like help with and work with you and your GCSE/A Level assessment objectives from the exam boards to further improve your work. For younger children I can start with the fundamentals such as the formal elements of art, introducing different artists, practising techniques and making exciting projects. For example if you wanted to learn about portraits and human figure I would start a lesson on basic proportions and then build with tone and explore a variety of exercises and sketches.

I had a wonderful experience of pure joy and escapism in Jens watercolour class. Jen is such a natural talented artist and teacher. Full of inspiration, energy and compassion for her students. So much so I have signed up for another class quickly before all the places disappear. Thanks Jen you are wonderful.

Jenny is so calm and supportive in her teaching. She had us enthralled by sharing her own illustrations for us to learn from. Many of us were complete novices but the peonies we created were easily recognisable because of Jenny’s reassuring approach and constant encouragement. I enjoyed them so much I booked another two sessions with her. Thank you Jenny . 10/10 🫶🏻

Jenny’s Watercolour classes (and I have been to a few) are a lovely, relaxing, creative experience where you really do get totally immersed in the moment. Jenny is able to explain different painting techniques in such a way that even complete beginners can enjoy the session's. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, left the session with feel good vibes and our very own art work! I have booked into more sessions and really looking forward to the next one!

Jenny was an amazing tutor, she broke down the lesson into manageable sections which was so easy to follow. She had an incredibly calming and patient presence. The lesson flowed beautifully and afterwards I left feeling more confident and that I had learnt many new skills. Thank you Jenny! 5 stars!
