About Sheyamali

I am a fine artist, art and mental health facilitator and project manager on programmes within art gallery education settings. I have taught sessions in all major institutions in London in the last 10 years (Tate, National Gallery, Drawing Room Gallery, Bow Arts) and have lectured to a variety of audiences. I have also taught art in schools, both primary and secondary settings.

About the lesson

I focus on drawing technique, colour theory and abstract expressionism. I like to reference diverse contemporary and historical artists and use collage as a starting point for idea development for students. I draw on philosophy, current affairs as well as student's own psyche and emotional states. We will discuss prior to and during the creation of the artwork and also dedicate time for reflection. There will be a mixture of technique based teaching and experimental teaching.

I am available for sessions on Thursday afternoon and evenings, Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings

Sheyamali is a great tutor! She breaks down an image into its different parts (lighting, shadows, highlights) and really helps me observe so that I can draw better. She creates a calm environment for me to get better at my art. And she has great music taste!

Sheyamali worked with me so patiently and kindly! She is also very clear in how she explains how to figure out a problem. And she doesn't intervene straightaway but encourages me on how to start . It helps me come up with the solutions independently!
