About Sarah
Music has been my greatest passion for years. I enjoy so many areas of music and find that helping others foster that appreciation is what I most enjoy doing. I feel that my service stands out in that I not only try to help a student meet their goals and solve problems, but I also try to relate to every student I work with. After all, I was once an inexperienced music student trying to form my own understanding of musical concepts and in need of guidance. I feel that as a tutor, I can use the skills I have developed to help students to the best of my ability.
I most enjoy that I get to tutor students of all experiences and ages; I have tutored students around 18-23, and I have also tutored students in their late 60s and 70s. I enjoy online tutoring because in these unprecendented times, music students seem to struggle more without the support that in-person instruction can provide. With online tutoring, I try to simulate the environment of in-person instruction to best help my students.
I am a recent college graduate with a bachelor's degree in music education. With my coursework, I have studied a variety of music-related areas, such as music theory, aural skills, music history, conducting, and more. I have playing experience with each family of instruments. With my degree, I am qualified to teach P-12 music.

When I begin working with a new student, I try to establish rapport with questions such as "How did you get interested in this topic?" or "What instrument do you play? I play the saxophone!" I ask a student what they may struggle with, how I can best help them, and their strengths so that we can find new methods that will work for the student in solving a problem.
