About Laura

I am a dedicated and experienced tutor with a strong background in both music and French. I hold a BA in Music and French from the University of Galway and a Master’s degree in Composition from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I also hold a Level 5 TEFL certificate and have achieved Grade 8 in piano from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. With several years’ experience teaching Junior and Leaving Certificate Music and French, as well as piano and English as a foreign language, I’ve worked with students of all ages and abilities—both in classrooms and through private tuition. My aim is to create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment where students can feel confident and motivated to reach their goals. Whether you're preparing for state exams, learning a new skill, or looking to build on existing knowledge, I tailor each lesson to meet your individual needs.

About the lesson

I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence in their abilities. My approach is student-centered: I tailor each lesson to suit the learner’s individual needs, learning style, and goals—whether that's preparing for exams, developing practical skills, or simply gaining more confidence in a subject. In music lessons, I combine practical exercises with listening, discussion, and creative tasks to deepen understanding and enjoyment of the subject. In language lessons, I focus on communicative methods—using conversation, real-life materials, and interactive activities to develop fluency and comprehension. For composition, I help students find their own voice while building a strong foundation in technique and structure. Lessons are typically 1 hour, but I can adapt to shorter or longer sessions depending on the learner’s age, focus, and availability. I hold a BA in Music and French and a Master’s in Composition from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, along with a Level 5 TEFL qualification. I have several years’ experience teaching Junior and Leaving Cert Music and French, as well as piano and English as a foreign language, both online and in person. I teach students of all ages—from school students preparing for state exams to adult learners returning to study—and I always aim to meet each learner exactly where they’re at.

Laura is an absolutely fantastic teacher. Her dedication and passion for teaching really shows.

So far, I have booked 2 lessons with Laura and I am already beginning to see a positive change in my French speaking and grammar. These are two components I have been struggling with for a while.

Laura has all the patience in the world and you can really see she is passionate about instilling confidence and a love for learning modern foreign languages. One thing for me is that, I really feel I am able to come to her with any question big or small and she is able to give me an answer with no judgment. Laura shows up for her students and gives 110% every single time. I really feel she recognises and values all students like myself who are struggling and makes it her mission to leave no student behind.

I can’t thank you enough.
