About Jonnieriengmailcom

I offer an online art tutoring service covering multiple mediums including, acrylic painting, watercolor painting, oil painting, and charcoal. My main goal is to help people express themselves in the arts! You do not necessarily have to be in an art class to use my tutoring services. This is an easy way to share my love for art with the world, and describe how each individual is capable of sharing their own masterpieces. I can also provide insight on the elements and principles of art, art history, illustration techniques (especially scientific or biological illustration), and pieces specific to surrealistic genre, still life, cartoon illustrations, abstract, or semi-realistic genres.
I love recreating the world around me in many different mediums. I am actually studying to be a zoologist, so I often find myself combining the worlds of art and science, then sharing that combination with people around me. My goal is to inspire other artists, and help them find themselves when they feel lost or stuck in a creative block! I love seeing the different styles and masterpieces that come from others, and how they light up when sharing their works with me!
I am also certified in environmental education, and have worked as a environmentalist mentor at Grassy Waters Preserve. There, I worked with many students not only regarding topics about the preserve and acting as a tour guide on field trips, but also helping in related curriculum based activities and arts and crafts.
I am Grumbacher art teaching certified, and have successfully completed a minor in Studio Art. I have also worked with freelance commissions before, and worked under my college professor in an independent art study combining science and art.

I will start out by asking the student what they already know, and what mediums they feel most comfortable with. I will then ask them what they are looking for help in, and will provide information and/or example on how to go about that, as well as provide a demonstration upon request. I can also offer particular artistic/creative exercises or worksheets to help you practice. After that, I will check on the students progress as time progresses.
I have worked with children ranging from grades K-12th grade, but I am willing to work with young adults and adult students if they require my services!
When looking for a teacher in the arts, make sure they are not only willing to give you creative freedom, but will help you master the disciplinary areas of art. They will be straightforward, but will not take total control of your work. They also should NEVER touch, or draw, paint, etc. on your work without your knowledge nor permission.

Details
I will typically charge $20-$30 per hour. Why? Because you are simply paying for my time, but since it is all online or over the phone, the payment regarding materials or traveling for my services is not necessary as most tutors require. I want this to be a fun experience for both my students and I; therefore, I am not looking to charge extreme amounts for my tutoring services. Why is there a price range? Each student will have something different they are working towards, some more difficult than others, thus requiring more in depth attention or help as needed.
