About David

Salutations, fellow sojourners on this pilgrimage we call life!

My name is David Lee Koontz (sometimes credited as D.L. Koontz in written works), and I am a full-time professional instructor in the theatrical and performance arts. I have been instructing people on individual and classroom levels for nearly two decades, focused principally on creative performance, creative writing, and public speaking; these are things that I truly love, and the thing I love most about them is sharing and teaching them to others.

This is NOT the only hat that I wear as I travel this pilgrimage, however; I am also a seasonal Santa Claus, a certified minister for the purpose of marriage (in the great state of Texas only), a published author and playwright, a public speaking instructor, and a well-versed calligrapher. Our journeys through life take us hither and yon, and I've picked up many a talent and tradeable skill in my 40+ years.

My greatest passion, regardless of the subject matter or curricula, is teaching. I am drawn to teaching the way some people seem drawn to the water, or to the sky, or to adrenaline sports... in the way that all of us have something we want and need to pour our passion into, my chosen passion is teaching others. I am blessed in being able to break down and explain a cavalcade of topics and subjects in a way that people understand and can execute upon without drowning them in minutiae or burying them in boredom. That's my true passion: to take the things that I'm passionate about and package them in a way that others can understand and share my passion.
