About Ruby

As actors, we have the ability to create worlds using our own real life experience combinded with our own unique imaginations. The goal is to be so connected to the character we find a place where it just exists with out thought. While there is no sure way of "how we get there," there are a multitude of facets inside us that we can utilize to find that place. The place where time seems to stand still, and the only thing present is you, the character, living and breathing. Listening and responding, connecting with other energies and creating a universal truth of expression. I love to work with artists to find the truth of their unique individual expression. I believe the body, mind and spirit all take place and work in different ways when we are acting, and I want to create a full world of all three, with each word you speak, each step you take, and each breath you stop. I enjoy helping actors find emotions, thoughts, memories, truths and experiences organically. I love to watch their trust with in themselves grow. Even if a place is painful for them to tap into, I know it will in turn heal. By facing the scary parts of ourselves, we can move through them. Watching artists discover themselves, while growing as an actor is the most rewarding part for me. I believe the more you study, the better you become. The better you become, the more you will work. It is a win win.

A friend of mine asked me to teach her daughters acting classes. Through the process, I realized I loved teaching actors! In this industry it can be difficult to find a safe space to trust, create, explore, and grow in. I want to be that place for you.

I have studied acting for film and TV for over a decade. My training touched on many different forms and techniques. I have studied Stanislavski, Meisner Technique, and Chekhov. I have had mentors such as known Director and writer Martin Donovan, the late director Dan Ireland, Stuart K Robinson, and many more, for over a decade of knowledge combinded.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is unique to each actor. First we do breath and body work. The body is our tool, and we must connect with it in order to understand it. If you have a specific script you are working on, we will focus on that. If you are looking to expand yourself with out material, I will assign it to you. I am also open to group classes, with two actors working on one scene. If an actor can not find a partner willing to take lessons, I will do a scene with you.

All types. Ages 5 -35. I have worked with first time actors looking to learn, all the way to experienced actors that want audition coaching.

Find someone who does not give you smoke and mirrors. Find a true artist, who teaches because they LOVE acting. If you find someone you can trust with the painful and beautiful parts of your soul acting bares, hold onto them.

One of my students booked the role in her school play. She was 10 years old the first time I taught her. She is now 13 and loves acting more than anything else!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about WHY you want to be an actor. Is it for false and ego driven reasons? Or because you live to express yourself? Dig deep and find that answer. Then ask your teachers for help. If your heart is in the right place, they will guide you.
