About Eleanor

I’m a UC Berkeley graduate, a recording artist, and musical theater composer who has written and produced original musicals, released 17 singles. I am currently working on my debut album.

In addition to my work as an artist, I have nearly a decade of experience working with children in schools, camps, and creative programs. I strive to share the craft of songwriting with others, as it helped me in my personal journey immensely.

About the lesson

“Probably the best class I've ever enrolled one of my kids in.” - Tess L.

I tailor every lesson to the individual student, listening closely to their interests and using creative prompts to help them turn everyday experiences, stories, or art into original songs.

In the first lesson, we discuss the student’s musical background, goals, and the music that inspires them. From there, we begin analyzing song structure and developing ideas through creative prompts based on their interests. Students are guided through melody writing and lyric development while building skills in voice, piano, or guitar.

Throughout the process, students receive feedback and revise their work until the song feels complete. We then focus on developing their performance of the piece and building confidence as both performers and creators.

Lessons are available for individuals or groups.

Taking classes with Eleanor has been a truly magical experience for my daughter. She's not just honing her singing and performance skills (though she loves that part of class, too), she's discovering what she wants to say and how she wants to express herself creatively. It has been a joy to see her gain confidence throughout this process, and to hear her talk about how much she loves going to class. Probably the best class I've ever enrolled one of my kids in. You rock, Eleanor!

Eleanor’s songwriting class is excellent! My daughter has been taking lessons with her for two years - it’s amazing what she and my daughter have created together. Eleanor is bright, funny, talented and engaging - children love her and love being with her. This has been such an incredible creative outlet for my twelve-year-old. Eleanor is a gem!

Eleanor has been such an amazing teacher. I have played music for years and years, but somehow could never write anything. It was the most frustrating thing - but Eleanor showed me how to tap into my inner voice and write! In just a few months, I’ve written two songs under her guidance, and actually like (like really like!) them both. Thank you Eleanor for showing me how to find my creative voice :)

My daughter has been taking music and songwriting lessons with Eleanor for almost 2 years now, and it has been a great experience. In that time, my kid has grown tremendously as a musician and a performer.

Eleanor has a gift for nurturing the creative spark in her students. She is encouraging, non-judgmental, and collaborative. She's taught my daughter so much about the craft of songwriting, and gently pushes my daughter to work hard to make her songs the best they can be.

Eleanor is a very talented musician in her own right, but she doesn't push her creative ideas onto her students, she supports them in developing their own points of view. We feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful teacher.
