About Brooke

Brooke McCarthy is an actor, singer, teacher, playwright, dancer, creator, comedian, and award-winning solo artist. Originally from NJ, she’s currently immersed in Charlotte's arts scene. Brooke holds her MFA in Acting from the University of Georgia and completed her post-MFA teaching acting at Virginia Tech. Through her experiences teaching at UGA and VT, she has cultivated a passion for teaching and prides herself in fostering a collaborative environment that is both enjoyable and pedagogically rich. Her style is akin to creating a playground for actors which emphasizes personal authenticity to ensure a truthful artistic experience. Brooke has won many awards for her original one-woman musical comedy show HOW TO BE AN ETHICAL SLUT including Solo Performer of the Year, Best Selling Show in NYC’s Frigid Fest, Best of Fest at Hartford Fringe, Philly Fringie Audience Choice at Philly Fringe, and Spirit of the Fringe at the St. Lou Fringe (IG: @howtobeanethicalslut). She’s currently developing her latest musical solo show GASLIGHTING: THE MUSICAL! (IG: @gaslightingthemusical). Stay tuned and follow Brooke (IG: @brookexmx) for local NC performances. Since moving to Charlotte in 2024, she has had the pleasure of performing with the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, Queen City Concerts, Davidson Community Players, Queen City Comedy, and more. Brooke has performed internationally at the Medieval Theater Conference and regionally with Aurora Theatre, Broadway Theatre of Pitman, and Philly Improv Theatre. She teaches adult acting classes at Matthews Playhouse, Davidson Community Players, and the Comedy Arts Theater of Charlotte (CATCh). She is also available for private acting coaching lessons.

About the lesson

I hold my MFA in Acting from the University of Georgia and I'm actively teaching multiple classes across Charlotte. I structure each session to fit your individual needs. I am also a working professional, so I am current with what's going on in the industry.
We may work on impulse training, bold physicality, or voice work depending on your goals.
I have a way of gentle encouragement, so you will feel comfortable making new choices.
