About Maira

Hello! I’m Maira, a professional singer and vocal coach with over 11 years of performance experience.
I have performed leading roles in professional opera productions across Greece and the United Kingdom, collaborating with internationally acclaimed conductors, directors and orchestras.
I graduated with High Honours in Classical Singing and Opera Performance and have trained under distinguished teachers whose careers have included major international stages such as Covent Garden and the Metropolitan Opera of New York.
Alongside my operatic career, I have worked extensively as a performer in Pop, Rock, Contemporary Music and Musical Theatre.
My experience also includes acting, leading roles in theatre and musical theatre productions, live performances with bands, full-season engagements in major venues, corporate events and performances for high-profile audiences and official events.
Throughout my career, I have worked across a wide range of musical styles and performance settings, combining technical excellence with strong stage presence and artistic versatility.

Some singers learn how to sing. Others learn how to command a stage.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, an experienced singer, preparing for auditions, developing your technique or working towards professional performances, we’ll create a personalised plan designed around your goals, strengths and musical interests.
 Lessons may include:
 • Belting, light mix, powerful mix, whistle register, vocal distortion, screams and contemporary vocal techniques
 • Classical singing, operatic technique, vocal resonance, legato and stylistic interpretation
 • Breath support, vocal freedom and healthy technique across all styles
 • Chest voice, head voice and mixed voice development
 • Repertoire selection and song interpretation
 • Performance skills, stage presence and confidence building
 • Audition preparation and performance coaching
 • Acting, storytelling and emotional connection through song
I believe singing is not just about technique—it’s about finding your artistic identity, building confidence and learning how to communicate something meaningful through your voice. Whether your goal is to sing your favourite songs with confidence, prepare for auditions, explore opera and classical repertoire, perform live, or pursue professional opportunities, I’d love to help you discover your own voice and become the performer you want to be.

  • 1. When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I’ve dreamed of being a singer since I was a child. I never really imagined doing anything else. My favourite instrument is my voice: it’s the one I’ve spent my life discovering, training and sharing with an audience.
  • 2. Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Honestly, no! I can fall in love with a song and play it constantly for a month, but eventually I need something new.
  • 3. Explain the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

I’d love to work with an advanced singer on a demanding song that needs both vocal stamina and real emotional connection. We would explore how to keep the voice free and controlled through difficult phrases, then take that technique into performance: movement, nerves, storytelling and making the audience feel something. That’s where singing becomes especially exciting to me.
  • 4. What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

For me, it’s the voice. You can’t see its keys or strings, and you can’t practise for eight hours without considering vocal fatigue. Sleep, stress and how you feel physically can all affect it. You have to develop a fine awareness of your body while learning what works for your voice. At a professional level, that’s a lifelong process.
  • 5. What are your keys to success?

Consistent, thoughtful practice and the right teachers. Working hard matters, but so does finding guidance that fits your voice and helps you understand what you’re doing. Then you keep showing up, experimenting and performing.
  • 6. Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I’d rather meet my favourite musicians after their show, when they’re tired but still full of adrenaline and have just lived through that moment onstage. I think that’s when we could really talk. So no favourite bar in the early hours of the morning for me. Sorry to disappoint!
  • 7. Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school. “you’ll suffer, but you’re gonna like it.” That’s how I’d sum up music studies/journey. The training can be demanding, and sometimes you work on one tiny detail for what feels like forever. Then you get onstage, it all comes together, and you remember why you chose this in the first place.

  • 8. What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I bring my experience as a working performer into every lesson. I’ve sung in major theatres, worked with orchestras and conductors, acted onstage and performed live with a band. That means I can help students with more than vocal exercises: we can work on nerves, movement, expression and how to make a song come alive for an audience. I also know that no two voices work exactly alike, so I adapt my teaching to the person in front of me.
