About Howard
The first session usually smells like freshly brewed coffee and feels like a low stakes conversation. We will start by observing your current flow before identifying the specific phrasal verbs or presentation skills that need a little extra attention. Given my 13 years of experience with IELTS and interview preparation, I know exactly which roadblocks typically trip up my students.
We might spend a few minutes on listening comprehension exercises, or perhaps we will shift gears to talk about your specific workplace challenges. My approach remains conversational because I want you to feel comfortable making mistakes while we navigate the trickier parts of English grammar together. You will find that I am quite patient when explaining why certain idioms sound unnatural in specific contexts.
I always keep my vocabulary notes updated, so you are welcome to grab any resources you need to practice between our calls. It is a pleasure to help you find your voice in this new language.

Teaching English actually began by realizing that most people try to memorize dictionaries before they can comfortably order a coffee. After 13 years of navigating the bilingual landscape across Canada, I discovered that fluency is rarely about vocabulary volume. My MA from McGill University combined with my CELTA training provides the technical framework for the 117 students I have supported. I prefer to keep my focus on the small, logical building blocks that transform a nervous speaker into a confident one.
It is quite rewarding to watch someone finally stop translating in their head and start thinking in the new language. Since I have worked with diverse backgrounds ranging from working professionals to total beginners, I know how to calibrate my teaching style to match your pace. Grammar foundations and accent softening are just tools we use to achieve your broader goals.
I offer free access to my vocabulary notes to ensure you have a structured reference long after our time ends. How do you usually handle the pressure of speaking in a second language?
