About Yuichi
I am a passionate linguist who LOVES teaching and learning languages, which I think is because I love connecting with people using language. I grew up in Osaka, Japan until I moved to Southern California for college, where I studied linguistics, and I speak near-native English, so most of the time people think I grew up in the U.S. I also studied abroad in Spain for a semester during college. Upon graduating I taught Japanese at a private school in LA. I have 3+ years of experience tutoring online. I speak English, Spanish, and a little bit of German. In my free time, I like playing soccer (I played soccer for my college), taking road trips, playing the guitar, hiking (especially in national parks), taking pictures of nature, cooking, dancing, and last but not least, learning languages:D If you are looking to meet a friendly, patient, and interesting tutor, you've already found one! As an ESL learner who mastered English to a near-native level and moved to the U.S., I know all the nitty-gritty of learning English and adapting to different cultures. In my lessons, I will make sure that you learn practical conversation skills, not just textbook English, so if you are looking to practice English conversation, you are in the right place! I can also help you with academic English, writing resumes, travel English, etc. I have near-native English fluency to be able to explain anything in English (as well as Spanish and Japanese) if you have any questions or doubts.
