About Betty
ESL teaching is part of a five-year tutoring career during which I have worked with 220 students building practical English skills for daily life and work. My ESL lessons prioritize spoken confidence from the very first meeting, encouraging students to attempt full sentences even before every grammar rule feels fully secure. New vocabulary is introduced through real situations a student actually encounters, such as work, shopping, or daily errands, rather than an arbitrary fixed list. The atmosphere stays relaxed throughout, treating mistakes as a completely normal part of learning rather than something to fear or feel embarrassed about. Pronunciation is corrected gently and gradually, never all at once, so a student never feels overwhelmed by too much feedback in a single session. Every lesson ends with a short informal conversation, applying new vocabulary immediately in a low-pressure setting.
