  • 1) When did you start practising? How did this passion find you?

I’ve been drawn to storytelling since I was young, but things really kicked off when I studied filmmaking and screenwriting at university. What started as a fascination with movies turned into a real drive to create my own. Once I made my first short film and saw the impact it had on an audience, I was hooked. I knew this was where I belonged.
  • 2) Which artists or works affect you the most?

I’m inspired by filmmakers who take risks with storytelling and atmosphere, people like David Fincher for his tension and keen detail & Danny Boyle for how he weaves social themes into genre, and Lynne Ramsay for her raw visuals and storytelling. But I also get inspired by independent filmmakers I meet at festivals, their fresh perspectives often push me to approach my own work differently.
  • 3) What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?

Patience, resilience, and a bit of stubbornness. The industry can be tough, scripts get passed on, funding falls through, but if you keep going, the right opportunities come around. On the practical side, collaboration is everything. You need to listen, adapt, and, of course, a good sense of storytelling craft never hurts.
  • 4) What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

Don’t wait for “perfect conditions” to start, just start. Momentum is more important than perfection. Also, break projects into smaller, achievable steps; finishing a draft, a scene, or even just outlining an idea can keep you motivated. And surround yourself with supportive creatives, having the right circle makes it easier to stay on track when doubt creeps in.
  • 5) How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

For me, storytelling feels like a way of connecting with people I may never meet, a conversation across time and space. It’s challenging, exhausting, and sometimes frustrating, but also the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. When a project finally comes alive on screen and audiences react, there’s nothing quite like it, it reminds me why I fell in love with filmmaking in the first place.
