About Makayla
I began my journey after getting into Burke Middle College during my junior year of high school. There I worked on my associate's degree at Western Piedmont Community College. I then went on to major in biochemistry at Pfeiffer University until the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. This was when I found my passion for math and transferred to Arizona State University. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Physics and Engineering. I have always loved teaching, but have found working one-on-one more fulfilling. I love working with students from different backgrounds, as it helps me prepare to build connections with other students in the future.

I am someone who wasn’t very great at math. I struggled but have come to find a love for it! I have developed ways to learn and teach courses so it’s understandable and can be expanded on for those with negative experiences in the subject. I have experience working with people with learning disabilities, and am passionate about teaching the “why,” not just the “how!” I like to focus on fundamentals and make sure students have what they need to move forward.
