About Olly
I'm a producer, mixer and pianist with nearly a decade's experience within the music industry. My production career began at Remote Control Productions (Hans Zimmer’s studio) before I went onto study Music Production at LCCM on a scholarship, where I now lecturer in Music Programming. My musical foundations are in Jazz / Classical and I have a diploma in music theory.
I've had tracks that I co-wrote and produced find their way onto on BBC Radio 1 & 1xtra, BBC Introducing London, Radio X and Spotify's Fresh Finds, and have mixed multi-award winning film scores, all still just a few of years out of uni. I'm currently signed to Palm Bay Music Publishing as half of the duo PELA and am actively working with a wide range of artists spanning the electronic, pop and ambient scene.
Alongside my production work, I've performed keys / BVs with artists such as Basement Jaxx, Kelly Lee Owens, Keane, Nitin Sawhney and the Vienna Philharmonic (with Simon Rattle) and have had Cherif Hashizume (credits: Jon Hopkins, Björk, Kelly Lee Owens) as a mentor.
Working with world class artists has given me a true perspective of the creative process at its highest level. Now I'm more often found in the studio than on stage, this is the kind of focus and depth I bring in my teaching.

Hello! I believe in personalised, engaging and practical sessions tailored not only to where you are now in your development, but also to where you are heading.
Your goals and aspirations will take centre stage of the path we follow, allowing everything we do to have a tangible outcome within the projects you bring to the sessions. To me, being producer means having a constant open and learning mindset, as there are endless tools and techniques to be explored. I'm here to advise on possible directions and educate on the more technical aspects that open up these new frontiers.
Beyond building and strengthening the theoretical side, I'll help implement your chosen DAW / setup and growing creative abilities into your productions. I specialise in Logic X and am experienced in Ableton, being able to teach at undergraduate degree level. Alongside using you Logic / Ableton, lessons can cover:
- Music Production Techniques & Practises
- Recording Techniques and Mic Placement
- Ear Training and Critical Listening
- Mixing : Creative / Objective Strategies & Mindset
- Sound Design
- Relevant Music Theory (Harmony, Arrangement etc)
- Industry Insights
The aim of covering these areas is to be able to bring your ideas to life in exciting, dynamic yet sensitive ways, an essential skill of any modern producers regardless of genre. This could be landing the biggest drop at exactly the right moment or leaving the utmost space for a sparse, acoustic production.
I'm also a Jazz / Classically trained pianist and have a diploma in Music Theory. I have a humble home studio setup, as I often work outside the house with a portable rig. I strongly believe that all you really need is a computer and basic mic to make an amazing sounding record, which I can help you get the most out of if this is what you relate to.
I'm always happy to give honest, detailed feedback on your work in and outside of lessons. I also have a variety of hand outs and recommended resources for additional reading. Lessons are generally an hour, although I often do half-day / day session, as to really get stuck into a particular project or aspect of production.
Whether you're just looking to brush up on Logic in a single lesson or are starting from scratch, I'm here to help.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I’d highly recommend Olly as a tutor. I’ve been receiving tutoring in both Logic Pro X and in music production in general. He’s a fantastic teacher - happy to answer any questions I have, no matter how big or small, and to share what he’s learned through working professionally in the industry. He’s never made me feel lesser for not knowing things, and has always encouraged me. His approach has empowered me to keep progressing with my music production journey, which I think is so important, when it can be a daunting thing to begin. You won’t regret going with Olly as a tutor.
