About Mercedes
Dear Students,
I am currently finishing my degree at Liberty University (studying how to best teach English as a second language) and hope to provide some answers to you about how and why English works.
As a tutor I want to help you achieve your goals in learning English, whether that be a focus on accent, oral communication or written comprehension.
I also hope that you as a student feel comfortable asking questions during lessons.

As a tutor I will be focusing on grammar and meaning in English as a second language. This means that I will steer the student to a balanced look at how English works in reality and also answer questions about its grammar. A typical lesson plan will start with the student seeing the lesson's focus in action and then analyze why and how it works the way it does (this can apply to accents, vocabulary and writing). My lessons would be geared toward students who have a basic grasp on English already - that is a level of English comprehension that allows basic communication and a grasp of simple grammar - or a more advanced understanding of the language.
