About Isabelle
Hi! I'm Isabelle and I'm in my first year studying Biology at Oxford! I have loved science since I can remember (partly inspired by watching too much Big Bang Theory), and especially had a passion for the natural world. STEM hasn't always come easily to me though- throughout secondary school I hated maths and thought I was helpless. I really had to try relentlessly hard and in the process I ended up loving it so much that I pursued it at A-Level too. So, I really understand the struggle of not understanding subjects, and I can tell you that it can get much better with the right methods and attitude :) As well as science and maths, I have a particular passion for geography. Studying how both the natural and human world interact is both interesting and exciting. Going from one lesson learning about political instability to studying an enormous volcanic eruption in the next is something I truly miss about studying Geography- and a passion I would love to pass on through tutoring. Currently, I spend my work days at university either in labs doing tedious practicals (a mouse dissection is a recent favourite), or in lectures covering a range of topics from dinosaurs to DNA. Biology is an incredible subject which I am extremely passionate about, and studying it makes me so happy. So, my goal is to help you reach your next steps to do something that makes you as happy as biology makes me :)

Typical tutoring sessions are 1-2hrs, usually beginning with an engaging recap of the content the student is struggling with, reassuring understanding throughout. This is usually followed with practice questions to work on key exam skills and solidifying confidence in the topic. I have been a student tutor for around 1 year, with many satisfied clients. As I am only in my first year of university, my A-Level and GCSE exam experiences are still fresh in my mind which allows me to relate to student struggles and give up-to-date and relevant advice that I used to succeed. I tutor GCSE/A-Level in Biology and Geography, and GCSE Maths- having recently achieved A*A*A* in my A-levels of these subjects last year. At GCSE I achieved Grade 9s in all my subjects. I am currently studying an MBiol degree at the University of Oxford
