About Thomas
I am an experienced touring and recording drummer, having performed at major global festivals and shared stages with artists including The Blockheads, Tom Meighan, The Kills, Starsailor, Sunset Sons, and The Subways. This professional experience allows me to bring real-world industry knowledge into lessons, helping students gain a broader understanding of modern music and performance.
My students demonstrate the success of my approach, with many having achieved merits and distinctions in their Grade 7 and 8 drum kit exams. I take a patient and empathetic approach to teaching, and am student-focused at all times.

I am a full-time drummer with over ten years of teaching experience across schools, private tuition, and community settings. I have worked with students aged 2 and above at Hampton High School, St Joseph’s College, Smallberry Green Primary School, and West Ashtead Primary School, as well as teaching adults and senior learners up to the age of 80.
Creating a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment is at the heart of my teaching. I hold safeguarding certification through Educare and the NSPCC, ensuring students and parents can feel confident and secure throughout the learning process.
Every lesson is tailored to the individual, whether you're learning for enjoyment, working towards graded exams, developing specific techniques, or returning to music after a break. I teach the ABRSM, Trinity, Trinity Rock & Pop, and Rockschool syllabi, and I incorporate music theory naturally into lessons to strengthen understanding, musicianship, and communication.
My teaching approach is engaging, practical, and student-focused. I believe that music should be both rewarding and enjoyable, so lessons are designed to build confidence, encourage creativity, and develop effective practice habits that lead to steady, long-term progress.
Lessons are scheduled for either 30 minutes, 1 hour, or two hours, and include a free 30-minute introductory lesson to outline your inspirations and aspirations. This is a great opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss any access needs, and outline my strategy for your learning.
