• When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

  My interest in Mathematics began during high school. I was drawn to it because of how everyone kept saying how difficultit is and My passion for private tutoring developed later when I realized the impact I could have on individuals through one-on-one teaching. Helping students overcome their challenges and achieve their goals became incredibly rewarding for me.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I teach Mathematics, which consists of paper 1 and 2. I particularly enjoy discussing topics like Functions, Trigonometry and geometry as they allow students to explore. On the other hand, financial maths can be challenging, but I believe they are equally important as they build foundational skills necessary for understanding more complex concepts.

• Did you have any role models? Perhaps a teacher that inspired you?

  Yes, my high school maths teacher was a significant role model for me. They inspired me by his teaching methods and also his love for the subject. Their approach to teaching was energetic and fun, which deeply influenced my own style and motivated me to pursue tutoring.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  A good tutor must be patient, empathetic, and adaptable. Patience allows us to work at the student's pace, ensuring they fully grasp the material. Empathy helps us understand the student's struggles and tailor our teaching methods accordingly. Adaptability is crucial because each student has a unique learning style, and a good tutor must be flexible in their approach to meet these needs.

• Could you share an anecdote related to your subject or your student days?

  During my time at high school, I remember a time when i didn't do well in a test. This experience taught me to never be too prideful to ask for help, which I now pass on to my students. It's a reminder that anyone who understands something better than you can actually be helpful.

• Did you face any difficulties at school or university?

  Yes, I faced challenges with other modules at University, balancing studies with other commitments. However, these difficulties taught me resilience and the importance of asking for help when needed. They shaped me into a more empathetic tutor, as I can relate to the struggles my students face.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of this particular subject, or something completely different?

  I have a deep passion for mathematics and helping people in general. This passion fuels my enthusiasm for teaching and helps me inspire my students to find their own passions and pursue them with dedication.
