About Alex
Hello! I have a passion for connecting with people and discovering their perspective on life and the world. And teaching English gives me the perfect opportunity to do this.
I have been doing that over the last 25 years by travelling extensively, teaching English as a foreign language in both Russia and China, and through a corporate career in communications and organisational transformation.
I've studied Russian to degree level and put this into practice living in Moscow. Because of this, I know how difficult it is to strike the balance between perfection and the practical.

My teaching style emphasises a balance between getting pronunciation and grammar right, whilst understanding we need to let some mistakes go by if we're going to achieve flow, consistency and, most importantly of all, confidence.
The typical length of my lessons is an hour, but can do anything from 45 to 90 mins.
I have a TEFL certification from the language school English First and spent 2 years teaching with them in Moscow, Russia and Harbin, China.
Since then I've spent the last 15 years in the corporate world working on communications, strategy and organisational transformation.
I am open to teaching 14 years and above.
