About Jhonalene
Hello! My name is Jhonalene, and I am a TEFL-certified English tutor from the Philippines with a degree in Psychology. I am passionate about helping students improve their English speaking skills in a supportive, comfortable, and encouraging learning environment.
I have experience working as a special education assistant teacher and English tutor, which has helped me develop patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons based on each learner’s goals, pace, and learning style.
I teach conversational English, general English, travel English, and beginner English for young adult and adult learners.
My lessons focus on building confidence, improving communication skills, and making English practical for real-life situations. I aim to create a positive learning experience where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and improving step by step.
Outside teaching, I enjoy writing stories, reading books, and listening to music, which also helps me bring creativity and engaging discussions into my lessons.

I use a student-centered and supportive teaching approach focused on helping learners improve their confidence and communication skills in English. My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, learning style, and English level to create a comfortable and effective learning environment.
My teaching methods include guided conversation, vocabulary building, pronunciation practice, grammar explanation, and activities. I focus on practical English that students can use in daily life, travel, work, and social situations. I also encourage students to speak as much as possible during lessons to help them become more confident and natural when using English.
A typical lesson usually begins with a short warm-up conversation or review activity, followed by the main lesson topic. Students are given opportunities to practice through discussions and activities. I can also do free talk or casual conversation. At the end of the lesson, I provide feedback, corrections, and suggestions for improvement.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my patient, adaptable, and understanding teaching style. As a Psychology graduate with experience as a special education assistant teacher, I understand that students learn differently and may need different approaches to stay engaged and comfortable. I aim to create a supportive environment where students can learn without pressure and build confidence step by step.
