Te Reo Maori

I would love to teach people the basics of the language, because with basics you can go very far.

The lessons I want to teach would include the following;

- Our tradition haka, and other haka from other rohe (areas)
- Kai (food) what type of food we eat, where we get it from, how our tupuna (ancestors) collected it back in the past, how we make it, the story behind it and where it originated from.
- Waiata, I love to sing and I generally love to teach people songs. We will learn how to sing the waiata, the translation and where it came from. We may even start to compose our own waiata!
- Karakia (prayers) play a huge role with us Māori people, whether it be for kai (food), an event, a person who is sick, a person or people who are being worshiped, birthdays, and so on. I would love to teach people a karakia for any event, learn the translations, why it is said, when it is said, even compose our own karakia, also even sing our karakia which is then called a Takutaku but also in a huge way is a form of karakia.

We as Maori believe that music, kai (food), karakia (prayers) and our language bring us all together, and these are the topics I am willing to teach.
