  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak fluent Māori because of my origin and also my kaumatua taught me from birth.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

Tane Mahuta and Maui would be a couple of famous legends as a emblematic representatives to the Māori language
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

"Ko te reo māori te mana mauri o te iwi māori."
"The language is the life essence of Māori"
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

For Te Reo Māori to live on forever and passed down to the next generation. Also to be shared with rest of the world.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

Pronunciation is most difficult for some. Practice and a good tutor will get anyone through the process.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

Being patient is the key when teaching Te Reo Māori to those who are new to the language.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Going back to your roots which I call your Haukainga/ turangawaewae, can help with genealogy, your history and finding out who you are, weather you are Māori or other ethnicity.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

"Kāore te kūmara e kōrero mo tōna ake rēkā."
"A kumara does not brag about its own sweetness."
