About Jelena

Ciao to tutti! I am Jelena, teacher with a master's degree in Italian as a foreign language with 10 years of experience between Europe (Italy, Serbia) and Chile. In 2015 I came to Santiago from my hometown, Belgrade, with a teacher exchange contract in hand and eager to get to know this country and some Latin America. And, as sometimes happens in life, I ended up falling in love and staying here! I love teaching, knowing more and more people in love like I do with Italian culture and language, and being able to pass on all the knowledge acquired during my two master's degrees in Italy (Università per Stranieri di Perugia e Ca 'Foscari Venezia). I do individual and group classes for adults and young teenagers, face-to-face or online. I also give preparation classes for certifications such as CILS, CELI or Plida, necessary to study or work in Italy or for the process of Italian citizenship.

About the lesson

Many times I receive the question about the method I use in my classes and I would like to take advantage of this space to explain more about that. Today there are many methods of learning a language, but the method I will choose for a class depends not only on me, but on the student, his personality, his linguistic needs and his style of studying. Therefore, during our first class (or ideally at the moment we get in touch), I try to discover the most appropriate method for that particular student and I propose a way of working and the teaching material that best lends itself For your specific case. If you follow a manual, I pass it in pdf format so you can have it at your fingertips at home / office / subway or any other time you want to devote to the study. In a general course, the method that I prefer is the communicative situation, where the student prepares to be able to independently develop the daily tasks of life or visit another country, from the most basic ones such as asking for directions to leading an advanced conversation with someone who has known. In my classes I always try to include dynamic activities and recreational elements, creating a didactic and entertaining environment and a harmonious and trustworthy climate where the student feels comfortable to speak, to solve all the doubts he may have, and even to make mistakes.
