About Elizabeth

I love teaching because I learn with my students, and it is really a pleasure to watch another actor grow in confidence and skill, to see them develop, and find joy in their craft- we can so often forget that we act because we love it, we find it fun!
I often felt quite lost approaching the industry, no one where I grew up ever really followed such aspirations- and no one had any idea about drama school. The few teachers I had that did know about the process, I found invaluable.
I understand auditioning/ beginning to act is scary, it can often bring up feelings of imposter syndrome and fear- but our passion pushes us through these feelings- and I wish to help my students push through this, too.
I have a great love and understanding for theatre- I recently toured south Germany with the American Drama Group of Europe for two months, the skills I learnt working this job have inspired me massively, despite my own fears and imposter syndrome. I understand what the stage requires and take great joy in passing this on to others. I love my job and love seeing others fall in love with their craft, too.

About the lesson

We will explore…
-Presence on stage
-Shakespeare and how to approach his texts dramatically
-Vocal technique
-Increasing confidence
-Contemporary texts
-A first approach to practitioners such as Uta Hagen and Grotowski
-Listening in a scene
Ideally, I set out goals with my students at the beginning of our time together, and work with them to reach their aims, honing their existing skills and learning new ones. I often learn from my students too, so am always grateful for the opportunity to coach. My aim is always to create a safe, supportive environment that encourages people to grow, learn and take risks to improve their stage craft- as well as a primary goal of finding joy in performance!

My sessions are an hour long typically, and I am available to coach ages 11-18, as well as anyone auditioning for drama school at any age. I understand this process well, having passed it myself.
