About Sofia

Hello everybody. :) I graduated from high school this summer and will study from next year. My mother tongue is English, since I grew up in America and was in school there until the 4th year of high school. During my time in America I gave tutoring for children with learning difficulties, as well as for my classmates and my younger brother. During my time in America, I also worked with children outside of tutoring as a part-time job. Since I am in Switzerland, I have been teaching English to other school-leavers and high school students. In addition, I have always been one of the best in my class and I am very committed to learning. I have always had a lot of fun at school and would like to pass this joy on to your child or to you. Since my mother is a primary teacher and I have often helped her with her preparations, I already have some experience with the compilation of learning materials and teaching, especially for younger children. I would like to teach and would like to make school easier for you or your child.

About the lesson

My tutoring lessons are suitable for pupils from primary school to graduation. Since English is my mother tongue, I would also be willing to help adults or uni students with English. My lessons consist of direct instruction (whereby the student can ask questions at any time), as well as practice exercises (which are adapted to the level and age of the student). I also have didactic materials such as listening comprehension exercises and reading comprehension exercises from a wide range of course books, as I have already used them for previous tutoring. For younger students, I would redesign the materials to make them more child-friendly. I could also look at English literature with the student because I know most of the books and have already read and analyzed them myself. In addition, I would often practice speaking freely with the students and thereby teaching them a broad vocabulary. If there is a need, I would very much like to prepare you or your child for an exam. A lesson with me would take place something like this: 1. Repetition of the last lesson / during the first lesson creating a general overview of the problem areas of the child and what needs to be worked on 2. Grammar with exercises 2. Listening or reading comprehension 3. Vocabulary on a topic 4. Free-speaking about the respective topic. However, this structure can also be adapted based on your needs. :)
