About Dmitrij
Hi! I’m a Mathematics and Applied Mathematics student teacher at Maynooth University. Alongside my studies, I am a tutor with the second level support sessions run by Maynooth University’s Mathematics Support Centre, helping secondary school students with Maths.
I offer one to one grinds in Maths for Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate students, as well as Leaving Certificate Applied Maths. My lessons are tailored to each student, whether they need help understanding difficult topics, improving exam technique, working through past papers or building confidence in Maths.
Having recently completed my own Leaving Certificate, I understand the challenges and pressures students face when learning Maths. My approach to teaching is relaxed, friendly and straightforward. I like to take topics that might initially seem complicated, break them down into simpler steps and focus on what students actually need to understand, without overwhelming them with unnecessary information. I believe Maths becomes much more manageable when things are explained clearly and at a pace that suits the student.
As part of my degree, I study a range of subjects including Calculus III, Vector Calculus, Fourier Series, Statistics, Quantum Physics and Mathematical Physics, alongside education modules such as Psychology of Education and
Teaching Practice. This allows me to develop not only my mathematical knowledge but also the skills needed to explain difficult concepts clearly and effectively to students.
I’m happy to work with students of all ability levels, from those struggling with the basics to those aiming for the highest grades. Above all, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and leave each lesson with a better understanding of the Maths they’re learning.

I offer online Maths grinds for Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate students, as well as Leaving Certificate Applied Maths.
Lessons are based around the individual student and what they need most. We can work through difficult topics, revise previous material, prepare for upcoming tests or focus specifically on Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate exam preparation.
I use worked examples, past paper questions and exam prep style problems, with a strong focus on understanding why a method works rather than simply memorising steps. We can also focus on exam technique, common mistakes and how to approach unfamiliar questions.
For Applied Maths students, I can also provide guidance with the project component, including planning, mathematical modelling and understanding the project requirements. This can be particularly useful for students studying Applied Maths independently or in schools where the subject is not offered.
My aim is for students to become more confident, accurate and independent when approaching mathematical problems.

Honestly couldn’t recommend Dmitrij enough, I’ve always found maths pretty hard but he explains stuff in a way that actually makes sense for once. He’s really good at breaking things down and doesn’t make you feel stupid if you don’t understand something. He’s also really easy to get along with and the lessons are actually enjoyable instead of just sitting doing maths for an hour. You can tell he knows what he’s talking about and actually wants you to do well. Genuinely one of the best people I’ve had help me with maths, would 100% recommend him
