About Alex
Hi, my name is Alex and I am a student of languages, literature, philosophy and history at the University of Cambridge in England. Being born and raised in Sydney, Australia, English is my mother tongue, but I also speak French, German and Cantonese fluently. I grew up in a bilingual family (English, Cantonese), and I have lived in Paris before. In addition, I obtained official diplomas certifying my fluency in French and German (awarded by the Alliance Française and the Goethe Institut). I am a true polyglot, passionate about languages: I speak 8 languages in total, including Russian, Danish and Dutch. In addition, I came first among all candidates in German (LVA) as well as in French, the equivalent of the bac in Australia, and I scored 20 in the bac across all subjects. Moreover, I not only have a passion for everything that is teaching and learning, but I also have a great amount of experience, having taught students of all ages and all levels.

As someone who speaks eight languages, some of which I learnt alone without help, I know the best and most effective strategies for improving one's skills and improving oneself in any language. All my students have noticed a strong improvement in their academic results and their grades thanks to the unique methodology that I use during our lessons. I make sure to find the happy medium between a total immersion in the language and a routine which guarantees that the student is constantly learning new vocabulary while extending their knowledge of grammar and complex structures in English. This style of teaching creates a certain linguistic rigour, with regular and active practice on the part of the student in order to reach his full potential. Having given lessons to a wide range of students from various backgrounds in many countries, I know very well how to adapt my teaching techniques and methods to the specific needs of the individual, paying careful attention to the personal concerns of each student in order to best overcome them.
