About Todd

I’m a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh with a strong passion for mathematics, physics, and analytical problem-solving. My research centers on advanced power electronics and electromagnetics, areas that require both deep theoretical understanding and practical application — a balance I bring into every tutoring session. Students can expect a professional, supportive, and structured learning environment. I focus on building confidence through clear explanations, real-world examples, and step-by-step reasoning that helps make even the most complex topics understandable. My approach is patient, methodical, and adaptable to each student’s pace and learning style. Having worked with students across engineering, physics, and mathematics, I understand how to bridge gaps in knowledge and turn difficult material into concepts that feel intuitive. Whether you’re preparing for exams, tackling challenging coursework, or strengthening your technical foundation, I’ll help you approach each problem with clarity and confidence.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor emphasizes clarity, intuition, and connection between theory and application. I focus on helping students truly understand the “why” behind each concept rather than memorizing formulas. I use visual explanations, real-world engineering examples, and step-by-step problem-solving to make complex topics approachable and engaging.

A typical lesson begins with a short review of key concepts, followed by working through representative examples and guided exercises. I encourage students to explain their reasoning out loud, as this reinforces understanding and reveals any gaps in knowledge. Lessons conclude with a short summary and practice recommendations tailored to the student’s goals.

What sets me apart is my research-driven mindset as a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. I combine a deep foundation in mathematics, physics, and engineering principles with a practical, application-oriented perspective developed through research in power electronics and electromagnetics.

My lessons are suited for high school, undergraduate, and early graduate students in STEM fields—or anyone looking to strengthen their analytical and quantitative skills in mathematics, physics, or general engineering topics. I adapt my teaching style to each learner’s pace and background to ensure measurable progress and confidence.
