About Maria
My name is Maria Eduarda. I moved to China when I was just 8 years old. After a few years in China my mother placed me in an American school here in China where I learned English and Chinese. Now 18 years old, I work at an International school in China with children and teenagers.
I really like series, my favorites are the 100, shameless, how I met your mother, friends, and the list goes on. One of my passions is eating, but I don't really enjoy Chinese food. I love dumplings, fried rice, but nothing else.

From what I've gathered over time, both from my personal experience and from teaching language learners, they mainly focus on grammar and translation skills, but they can't concentrate enough on conversation. My goal is to get the student to loosen up and talk in English without worry. First I start with a simple conversation to see the student's English level, then I plan a study at the right level for the student with texts, vocabulary, and tests. I also like to include certain idioms and slang so the student can get an idea of how a native speaker speaks. Normally, during classes, I practice pronunciation with students to additionally also help improve reading skills.
